Market intelligence reads earnings reports and filings from several companies, extracts a fixed set of sixty financial measures, converts them to comparable units and periods, and flags how each figure sits against a benchmark range and the peer group. It replaces the day spent re-keying figures from PDFs into a comparison sheet.
When to use it
- An investment memo or credit note needs two to ten companies on the same measures for the same quarter.
- The filings arrive as PDFs and spreadsheets in different currencies, units and fiscal periods.
- You want the outliers found for you, with the peer median and range beside each figure.
- You need the comparison as a workbook and a report, not a screenshot.
What it does
- Extracts sixty financial measures from each filing with the Document Extractor, in twelve groups: revenue, profitability, balance sheet, cash flow, per-share figures, ratios, and six quality lenses for earnings, cash, balance-sheet strength, disclosure and operations.
- Normalises currency, units and fiscal periods so companies can be compared, and derives ratios and margins where a filing gives only the inputs; exchange rates come from a published ECB-sourced feed, with the rate date shown.
- Flags each figure: white (above the benchmark range), yellow (within it), black (below it) or grey (not found). Lower-is-better measures, such as leverage, are flipped so a flag always means the same thing.
- Shows each figure's distance from the peer median, coverage per company, and analyst notes covering the executive summary, revenue and growth, profitability, operating efficiency, balance-sheet health, cash-flow quality, quarter-on-quarter movement and investment signals.

Example
Example — fictitious data
- Three companies, one quarter: revenue, margins, return on equity, leverage, liquidity and growth.
- Result: one company above the range on margins and growth (white), one below the range on leverage and margins (black) and marked as the outlier, one within range (yellow); one measure not found in a filing (grey).
What this does not do
- The output does not record which page of a filing a figure came from. Check important figures against the filing itself.
- Benchmark ranges are EDEN's own reference values; a flag is a prompt to look closer, not a judgement on the company.
- Extraction quality depends on the document. Scanned or unusual layouts can produce missing (grey) values.
